Vocal In Color is the artistic practice of meliange comenencia dedicated to tactile expressions and intuitive makings. Rooted in storytelling, each piece, session or service is shaped by the belief that that we should all be authentically ourselves - after all, that it is what means to be vocal in color.
ABOUT

about meli
Meliange is a storyteller, creator, and dreamer based in Rotterdam. With roots in Curaçao, she weaves her heritage into everything she makes—whether it’s through crochet, fashion design, painting, or poetry. Her work is a journey of healing. By blending her personal experiences with deep research, she explores themes like history, identity, and what it means to be a woman of color in the Western world today.
For Meliange, art is a way to bridge the gap between her Afro-Caribbean roots and her life in Europe, turning vulnerability into powerful stories.
"As a woman of color with a righteous and vibrant mind, I oftentimes find myself as a token amongst others. It is the feelings and the experiences that I am familiar with, that I incorporate into my work.
With this mindset I invite you to engage with the art that we together: talk about, create and dream about. How? Come visit an exhibition, join an event or workshop, or get to know Vocal In Color through social media, the podcast and the upcoming Connection Letters!"
